Fozzie

My name is Fozzie Mengovitz! I’m a good boy.

I discovered Fozzie in a neighbor’s yard, sleeping on a patch of fake grass. The first thing I thought when I looked at him was “this cat looks grouchy.“

In fact, I thought he looked a lot like Grumpy Cat.

The resemblance is obvious

But after visiting him day after day for several months, I saw who Fozzie really is: an older, gentle cat who had some bad luck. The vet thinks he is about 12 years old. He has feline immunodeficiency virus, or FIV. He also had a bad case of stomatitis which could only be fixed by removing his teeth. Admittedly, he does look a little ragged.

But what really counts is who he is on the inside.

The first time I ever met him, I kneeled down to say hi and he practically crawled into my lap.

He loves being petted, loves climbing into a lap, loves being held on the shoulder like a burping baby.

Within a day of his jaw surgery, he was snuggling and purring. I think his teeth were hurting him for so long that feeling good was a brand new sensation. For the first time in a while, Fozzie is well enough to be his true self: a massive love bug overflowing with warmth and affection.
Fozzie would do well as an indoor cat in an adult home. A family with young children might find him a little too sedate. But he would be perfect for a single person or a couple who want a laid-back snuggly lap cat. Fozzie’s drama days are over. He’s spent many years living outside; now it’s time for him to enjoy the quiet peace of an indoor life with a caring owner.

Fozzie’s isn’t just salt-and-pepper… he's also chocolate-and-vanilla. He has a two-tone coat that ranges from gray to black and tan to brown. And his fur is very soft. He is neutered and weighs around 15 pounds. He is a solid boy. His belly feels like a fuzzy Bocci ball.

I’ve never seen a cat who looks quite like him. He looks a little like a Muppet. That’s why I call him Fozzie.

Happy ending!

Fozzie was adopted in November 2021 by a kind and lovely lady with a big heart. Now he is safe indoors life, has a cat roomie, a favorite red ball and all the soft food he can eat. I am delighted and grateful he finally has the life he deserves.
