We are Rocco & Roxette Mengovitz! We're a good boy & girl.

Rocco (fluffy boy) and Roxette (smaller girl) were living in a Los Angeles crawlspace where a kind homeowner, Rosalina, gave them food every night. Maybe that’s why they look after each other so well. When we first got them they were understandably a little anxious about being so close to people.

​But pretty soon Rocco’s natural bravery kicked in. He would come up to me and sniff my sandal like it was a dare, while Roxette hid behind some towels. ​After I started petting him a couple times, Rocco would start to purr really loudly and I thought, we are making progress!

"Me? I'm good."

But one day when I reached towards Rocco to pet him, he started purring before I even touched him! That's when I knew we'd turned a corner.

Roxette’s normal personality comes out when she thinks no one is paying attention to her. She has an especially strong love of jingle bells, and boxes, and tiny toy mice. She also doesn’t take any shit from her brother. Well, maybe she does sometimes, but then she turns it around and lets him know what-for.

Rocco likes to watch out for his little sister. He’ll scout new places and later, Roxette will follow him to see for herself. They love to play together and by themselves. Rocco is bold, and Roxette is more shy. But even she will start purring when you pet her cinnamon-roll tummy.

Both Rocco & Roxette are about 3 months old. They are in good health, have gotten their initial shots/vaccinations, and they have been spayed & neutered. I have the paperwork from their procedures. We fostered them in a house with a Corgi-sized dog, so they know how to be around another animal and aren't anxious about it.

Nap time? Snuggle time? Maybe both!

Rocco & Roxettte would do well as indoor cats. They started life homeless, living outside, and have made wonderful progress towards being friendly, social housecats; that progress would be undone by roaming outside again. So we'd like them to join a home where they will remain indoor-only cats.
